Situated on the rooftop of the Hotel Atlante Star in Prati, Terrazza Les Etoiles offers 360-degree views of the Rome skyline, with St. Peter’s Basilica undoubtedly the gorgeous focal point. As well as wonderful views, the setting itself is adorned with an array of flowers, herbs, and other plants, making this spot feel intimate and romantic. The terrace is open every day from 10:00am to 1:00am, with lunch service from 12:30pm to 3:00pm and aperitif from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Aperitif is around €40 and includes one drink with a selection of delicious finger foods. Alternatively, order drinks from the menu, with prices starting at around €15.
La Rinascente’s flagship store on Via del Tritone has it all – big brands, designer price tags, a gourmet food hall, and a terrace restaurant run by Michelin-starred chef Riccardo Di Giacinto. In fact, there’s even an ancient Roman aqueduct in the basement. Once you’ve exhausted yourself exploring this luxury department store, head to Up Sunset Bar on the roof for refreshments and a stunning view of the Basilica di Sant’Andrea delle Fratte, with its baroque Borromini bell towers. A cocktail here costs about €12-€15.
The Spritzeria is a compact but charming bar in the heart of Rome’s hip Monti neighborhood. There’s no panoramic view here, rather a direct perspective down the street to the Colosseum. The vibe is modern, trendy, and relaxed, and the drinks menu highlights the Spritz, Italy’s famous prosecco and bitter liqueur-based cocktail. Go for a classic Aperol or Campari Spritz, or try a fun reimagining like ‘Il Gentile’ made with prosecco, pomegranate, elderflower, and gin. Expect to pay €8-12 per cocktail.
La Grande Bellezza terrace boasts sublime views over Piazza Navona, with guests sitting just a few meters away from the beautiful baroque dome and bell towers of the Sant’Agnese in Agone church. It also affords a unique vantage point of the grandiose Fountain of the Four Rivers, the centerpiece of the square below. As you might expect from a four-star hotel with one of the best views of Rome’s centro storico, prices are high – don’t surprised if you pay €30 for a drink and small snack. Booking is essential.
Zuma sits atop Roman fashion house Fendi’s iconic store in the luxury shopping district near the Spanish Steps. The award-winning Japanese restaurant chain, founded by chef Rainer Becker, came to Rome in 2016 and combines a wonderful location with an upscale dining experience. While restaurant reservations can be made online, drinks and aperitivo tables are first come, first served, so be prepared to wait (you might get lucky if you arrive when it opens at 6:00pm). Sample sushi and Japanese-style food and drinks, such as maki rolls, tempura, and freshly seared wagyu tataki with black truffle ponzu sauce.
